Best Time of Day to Write
There is no universally best time to write. But there is a best time for you. Here is how to find it.
Morning writing
Pros:
- Mind is fresh, fewer distractions
- Gets it done before the day takes over
- Many famous writers are morning writers (Hemingway, Morrison, Murakami)
Cons: requires waking up earlier, may not work for night owls.
Lunchtime writing
Pros:
- Breaks up the day
- Energy is still decent
- 30-45 minutes is enough for 500 words
Cons: limited time, interruptions, may feel rushed.
Evening writing
Pros:
- No deadline pressure
- Quiet house (if you have kids)
- Can write as long as you want
Cons: fatigue, may skip it after a long day, competes with relaxation time.
How to find your best time
Experiment for two weeks. Write at different times and track your output in BookBeast. Your word count will tell you when you write best. The data does not lie.
The only rule
Whatever time you pick, make it consistent. A routine at 6 AM every day beats "whenever I feel like it." Consistency creates habits. Habits finish books.
